Diwali box office: ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ edges past ‘Singham Again’ in pre-sales

Hollywood’s latest release The Lion King, in the Indian market has taken the box office by a storm. The film has proven all forecasts and predictions wrong and has collected Rs 50 crores in the opening weekend.
Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film’s business on social media. Jon Favreau’s directorial is trending better than The Jungle Book which amassed Rs 40.19 cr at the box office on its release.
On Friday, The Lion King earned Rs 11.06 cr, Saturday Rs 19.15 cr, Sunday Rs. 24.54 cr taking the opening weekend tally to Rs. 54.75 cr.

The film has also become the second Hollywood film this year to cross Rs 50 cr NBOC( net box office collection) in the opening weekend.
Earlier, Avengers: Endgame had set a new benchmark by collecting Rs. 50 cr+ every single day on its opening weekend. On Friday, it had earned, Rs. 53.60 cr, Saturday Rs. 52.20 cr and on Sunday Rs. 52.85 cr.
After Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: infinity War, The Lion King has had the best box office opening for a Hollywood film in the domestic market. The film also saw a 73% growth surge on Saturday.
Disney India has seen three major releases in 2019 across the country; all of which have churned big numbers at the box office. After Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Aladdin, The Lion King is taking forward the success trail.
